Is it for me?
If you are new to cycling, looking to improve your riding position on your Road or Gravel Bike and to banish that pain or discomfort you have on the bike, then a bike fit is for you.
How will it help?
Setting up a bike for a rider is an important part of what we offer at Elmy Cycles. Bikes come set up for a general riding position, but as we all know each one of us is different. Steve and Jo have a wealth of knowledge and experience between them, working with new riders and top UK athletes. Be it using their experience to find solutions that allow the rider to regain the pain-free riding experience the first had, or to take riders to the next stage in their sport. At Elmy Cycles we don't just look at your bike, we look at you on the bike and off it too. What kind of riding you are doing, looking at improving and what your day to day job entails.
Many stores these days simply purchase an "Off the shelf" fitting jig and become "Expert fitters" based on how much they have spent on that system. Just like your home computer though, the equipment is just a tool and it is the fitter who interprets those results and will determine the success of the fit. About 40% of our bike fits are to put right issues from riders who have paid double our fees for a "Fancy" fit but with an inexperienced fitter.
During your bike fit, we will use information from you to help us with making the adjustments to your bike set-up, such as saddle height, saddle fore and aft position, stem length and angle, shifter position, handlebar style, type and size, shoe and cleat set up and last but not least help with finding the saddle best suitable for the rider.
Steve Grimwood, has over 30 years of bike fitting experience and has competed in Road, Track, Cyclo Cross & MTB events, has completed the Lands End to John O'Groats 1000 mile ride and many other epic rides. Steve has also given talks on bike fitting to many groups, clubs, International Teams and National Federations as well as helping our very own race winning team. Steve understands that the rider's position is key to their performance and works with each rider to help them achieve their maximum potential whilst ensuring the bike is set up for their needs.
